Kayla was born and raised in Mobile, AL and graduated from Spring Hill College. She is currently working in Dr. Bob Datta's lab in the Neurobiology department at Harvard Medical School. She is currently working on a project studying how dopamine structures spontaneous behavior but her interest in neuroscience research started with mood disorders and their effects on development. When she is not in the lab, you can find her at home cuddled up with her puppy Roxy or in the mirror practicing for her audition to be a backup dancer for Beyonce. She has also recently started weightlifting and kickboxing, and is looking for places in the Cambridge/ Boston area where she can do both!
